Giulia Degli Alberti

Giulia Degli Alberti was born in Florence, and now lives and works in Milan. She graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1980, and then attended experimental research workshops in Switzerland and England.  In 1985 she opened a studio in Biella where she designed and produced glass walls for private and public clients. She explored and learned techniques for curving plate glass and, in 1988, she developed and patented the "Texture” process of float glass, a form of hot etching on plain glass that engraves a “texture” into thick glass.  She won an award in 1989 for “Designing glass for innovative use in architecture,” and in 1989 she received second prize in the "Texture Project".
