Matrix Table Lamp

A fusion of table lamp and art object, MATRIX emerges from the sleek design of the duo Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, acclaimed designers of the latest generation and founders of Studio OS Δ OOS based in Eindhoven. When referring to the term "matrix," one typically thinks of a square matrix commonly used in mathematics, which is a combination of rows and columns. A third dimension is introduced by the addition of a circle surrounding the matrix like a ring. The design object transforms into a lamp thanks to a light globe positioned internally and centrally within the matrix, emitting soft and diffused light in all directions. The grid structure plays with the simple and pure shape of the illuminated sphere. Components of Matrix, when viewed from different perspectives, create transparencies and cast unusual geometric shadows on surrounding surfaces. The Matrix project began as a system to allow for infinite configurations. The idea derives from architectural constructions and solutions for multi-purpose situations, stemming from the concept of form meeting function. This unique lamp embodies contemporary Italian design, skillfully crafted in Italy to bring sophistication and style to any space.
