Pietro Arosio - Modern Italian Furniture Designer from IMaestri
Pietro Arosio
Pietro Arosio was born in Milan, in 1946. After graduating from the Monza Art Institute, he started his career designing and manufacturing institutional furniture. This experience has been crucial part of Arosio's design philosophy. In 1972 he set up his industrial design practice, where he created his influential kitchen designs that won the 1983 Casaviva d’Oro prize. His work is characterized by spare forms, as well as the research and use of new technologies and materials. That said, he never underestimates the product’s emotional content and on many occasions has collaborated with international artists to imbue mass-produced products with artistic value. Some of his works were displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum of London and the Munich Die Sammlung modern art museum.
