Orlandini Design - Modern Italian Furniture Designer from IMaestri
Orlandini Design
Paolo Orlandini was born in Grosseto, Italy, in 1941. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano with a degree in Architecture, and then spent roughly ten years at the studios of Marco Zanuso Sr. and Richard Sapper. In 1968, he began collaborating with Roberto Lucci on designs for seating, as well as office and kitchen furniture. Over 3 million chairs are now adorned with the Lucci Orlandini Design label. They have designed more than 500 products together, with an approach based on scale modeling and functional mockups. Generally speaking, they prefer direct experimentation to digital abstraction. They are also involved in educational activities at the Istituto Europeo di Design, l’I.S.I.A di Roma, the Politecnico di Milano, and the IUAV di Treviso.
