Eero Aarnio - Modern Italian Furniture Designer from IMaestri
Eero Aarnio
Finnish designer Eero Aarnio, born in 1932, studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki, and started his own office as an interior and industrial designer in 1962. Espousing new ideas for furniture, he designed the Ball Chair in 1963. His materials and shapes were complete novelties for furniture industry at that time, and in subsequent years fiberglass became one of Aarnio's favorite materials. The durable and workable nature of fiberglass enabled Aarnio to design intriguing and ergonomic forms without restrictions.
