Carlo Bimbi - Modern Italian Furniture Designer from IMaestri
Carlo Bimbi
Carlo Bimbi was born in Volterra in 1944. After graduating from ISIA in Florence, he begun a collaboration with the studio Nizzoli Associati in Milan, then founded Internotredici Associati in 1970 in Florence with Nilo Gioacchini and Gianni Ferrara. The three designers took part to the exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” with their revolutionary product Tuttuno – which is now part of the permanent collection at MoMa (NY). Bimbi has thus continued working in his studio in Florence since 1985, while also teaching at the Art Institute, at ISIA and at the Faculty of Architecture in Florence. He has also been vice-president of ADI Toscana and was part of the thematic commission ADI Design Index for Living 2009/2010. He has designed products for many great names in Italian furniture, such as Dema, Casprini Gruppo Industriale, Arketipo, B&B Italia, and many more.
